Dated Feb 16th, 2011 - from my tumblr

OK, i have never seen this actor. He doesnt really seem like a “Peter Parker” to me, and im basing this off of every Spidey comic ive read. Which is alot.
They say they are basing this origin story re-vamp from Ultimate Spider-man, which was widely popular and possibly the most favored in the “Ultimate” marvel universe. Its basically the same, except Peter is in highschool. Although i sincerely hate it when they hire people between the ages 21-28 to play high schoolers. It may work for some MTV shows, but its not that hard to find the right aged actors.
The bottom picture was the first released photo of Andrew Garfield in Spidey costume, obviously out of some battle scene or whatever. And so far, its not scoring points with me. One of the reasons why I think the original Spiderman franchise did so well was because they got the costume right. …Sure they didnt exactly explain where and how he got the costume, but still, THEY GOT IT RIGHT the first time!

This one just has sooo many…flaws. First,I have no ideo what that suit is made of. It looks like….material they use for sports gloves. Only more waxy? Which leads me to the second flaw, the way the colors are put together. It is reminds me of those toys that lets kids make their own mixed-color crayons. Maybe the after-battle look is just ruining the texture or something. The kind of mix would POSSIBLY work for the gloves. But the red part is just so… plane.

I mean, the texture looks mixed, but it just looks all….draped over. There is supposed to be a red band that goes around his waist. Like a belt. If they added that, it could have really save the costume. And I can barley see the symbol! It looks like its covered by….scorch marks? Well…Green Goblin….makes sense.
All in all, this isnt a very good reveal for the costume.
The top photo, released today, definitely sells the new costume much better, especially with the cool pose, but im still having doubts. Why are his eyes yellow?
I just hope the the movie doesn't mess up the mythos.
The designers handling this movie have to know that putting your own little spin on the costume to be “original” doesnt always work. You didnt make spiderman. You know the template.
